Anyway, I thought it would be fun to do a color-by-number activity on the interactive whiteboard while the students were coloring on paper, so I thought I would try projecting the color by number image on the Mimio. Now, you can annotate any page on the Mimio by taking a "snapshot" and marking that image up. I was ready to do that, when I somehow opened up Mimio studio on my computer. I had just made up the coloring sheet with the colors in Chines on it, and decided to try a copy/paste into the blank Mimio studio document. Success! Then I pasted the color reference key into the Mimio document as well. I saved it and voila! My first Mimio application! It's not the most sophisticated application, but the students had fun coloring on the board (and they also had the same image that they can color on paper as well. Very pleased at the results...now to carve more time out to create other activities
With Thanksgiving coming up, I wanted to give my students some themed coloring and activity sheets. I want it to relate to what they're learning as well--my youngest students have learned the colors in Chinese. Turning to the Internet for inspiration, I found a website that had a color-by-number turkey. Now, I didn't change all the numbers to Chinese characters this time, although I have many coloring sheets with Chinese numbers AND colors that I use when it's later in the year and the students are more confident at their knowledge of colors and numbers.
