The last week or so I have been studying for the FTCE Business Subject test that I'll be taking this coming Saturday. It's rather disheartening, actually...none of the regular "test prep" publishers have written a test prep/review guide, so I'm stuck with online resources, most of questionable quality and reliability. I ended up paying $12.95 and then another 39.95 for a total of 5 sample tests from an online site. Of the 3 tests I've taken so far, I've gotten a 74, 66, and 77. Fortunately, I only need a 66 to pass, but these scores are still too close for my comfort. Not sure how reliable the test questions are to the actual test either...one of the tests (the one I got a 66 on) had a bunch of law questions on it--and not Tort law but rather, trial law. Not something one would likely encounter in the routine course of business. <sigh> It would be nice if there was a good review guide for this subject just so I could focus my review studies better...<sigh> Wish me luck!
Why Business, you ask--and not Chinese? Well, my most recent degree (earned many years ago) is a Master's in Business Administration. So the State of Florida deems me eligible to teach Business. However, because I don't have any official paperwork showing studies in Chinese, the State of Florida says I am not currently eligible for a temporary Certificate in Chinese education. After I earn my professional certificate, however, I will be taking Chinese classes (which apply to my continuing education requirements as well as my eligibility as a Chinese Teacher) and these classes will not only help me build the additional proficiency that I need, but also help to take care of this "deficiency" in my records. However, I still have to pass my Business Ed test first. Then my Professional Ed test the following week.
